CSR Activity Guidelines
On the basis of a strong partnership with our users throughout the world we are working to create a recycling-type society that is friendly to people and the environment, through the realization of sustainable growth. And having inherited in the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group a human spirit that is an unbroken tradition, we are making our CSR activities the occasion for each and every one of our employees to refine themselves and to grow.
The three guidelines below form the basis for implementation of our CSR activities.

CSR Activity Policies
- Activities should be humane and augment awareness of the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group's presence.
- Activities should be commensurate with capabilities.
- Activities should be conducted in locales where operations are being expanded.
In accordance with these three policies we are proceeding with a wide variety of activities under the concept of "Kobelco – Thinking of the Future of People and the Earth". These are not mechanical activities of simply donating a portion of profits because they have been generated. One cannot tell whether activities such as those are in the true sense being carried out for the sake of people, the environment, or the participants themselves. Rather, the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group values activities and aid that enable mutual understanding and an intermingling of hearts. First and foremost, activities should be for the people round about us and for locales where we are expanding our operations. We hope that each activity we undertake will be such as to heighten the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group's presence – in Japan, around the world and wherever Kobelco construction machinery is found.
CSR Organizational Setup
The Kobelco Construction Machinery Group has formed the organizational setup below to forward CSR activities. The CSR Promotion Committee, headed up by the Chief Financial Officer and comprising members selected from among both veteran and youthful employees from departments across the Group, deals with core aspects of CSR activities such as proposals for new activities, schedules and medium-term planning.
Background of CSR Activities
For some time before the launching of the CSR Promotion Group, the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group made donations of aid money and construction equipment to locales struck by natural and other disasters. And – naturally for a manufacturer of construction equipment – we engaged in rigorous environmental activities concerning chemical substances, environmental risks and so forth. Building on these endeavors, in FY 2006 we put in place a management setup to further round out our activities for contributions to local communities and for global environmental preservation and to implement these as company projects. With that setup as basis, in FY 2007 we were able to carry out diverse projects in conformity with our CSR Activity Policies.

For FY 2008 we plan the endeavors set forth below, which build on the activities we have carried out to date. We will be continuously implementing CSR activities befitting the Kobelco Construction Machinery Group and high-quality environmental and social activities, in accordance with the activity guidelines and in conformity with the activity policies.
