Parts and Service

A high-quality, carefully crafted service system is essential for maximizing machine performance at all times and enhancing machine value as a production asset. Accurate product and maintenance knowledge is needed to minimize breakdowns, and a superior service and parts system minimizes downtime when a malfunction does occur. KOBELCO operates a service system that quickly addresses user concerns through local dealers who have rich experience and a deep knowledge of their respective local conditions.





Parts


KOBELCO keeps a large inventory of high-quality, authorized parts that back up machine operation in all parts of the world. At the main parts center in Okubo, Japan, we keep approximately 125,000 items in stock in a 25,000 m2 facility. Inventory is managed automatically with a 300 m conveyer that enables us to respond quickly and efficiently to part orders as they come in. For customers in Japan, our basic policy is to deliver parts by the morning of the day after the day the order is received, if the order comes in before 4:00 PM.

Similarly, our Southeast Asian parts depot in Singapore contains approximately 3,500 items in stock, supplemented by inventories of selected parts kept by individual dealers and KOBELCO branch offices that help to ensure speedy local delivery.

After Service


KOBELCO technicians offer a full range of services, from regular after-sales machine check-ups to inspections and advice about how to avoid trouble, as well as quick support in case a malfunction does occur.
To provide this excellent service, superior technicians must be trained. To that end, KOBELCO operates various types of technical support programs for all APAC dealers.


The Okubo Training Center is housed in a state-of-the-art facility 2 hours distance from KOBELCO's Hiroshima Plant in Japan, which serves as the worldwide “mother factory” and design center for our construction machinery. The Training Center features all kinds of equipment, including large hydraulic and engine components, welding equipment, and machine maintenance tools. It is particularly useful for deepening service personnel's understanding of new models before they hit the market.


KOBELCO also dispatches technicians to train instructors at major dealers such as KISCO, which acts as KOBELCO's regional representative in Southeast Asia. The instructors become the core personnel who then go out to train service technicians at local dealers as well as owners and operators.
