The Kobelco excavator appears as a marker pointing the way ahead to dreams and hope on a road beset by anxiety and the uncertain events of our age. This photograph is a superb work of art that tells a story within a single picture.

Thank you very much for participating in the KOBELCO Photo Competition. We received many submissions, even though it was the first event of its kind we had held. Besides Japan, photos were sent in from many different countries: China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Australia, Italy, Philippines, India and Russia. Altogether nearly 1000 photos were received.
The photographer Ms Ai (Eye) Ohashi headed our judging committee to select prizewinners for the Grand Prize, President's Prize, and other outstanding awards. We send our congratulations to the prizewinners, together with our best wishes for further success in the future.
